Grow Springfield Administrative Position now available through Americorp
Host site: Illinois Stewardship Alliance
SUMMARY: Working closely with Grow Springfield administrative committee, the AmeriCorps member will help to coordinate Grow Springfield, a community garden and urban agriculture network through event organizing, research, media, marketing and more.
Term length: 900 hours (Beginning November 2014)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Learn about the issues of community gardening, urban agriculture, food insecurity and current status in Springfield
Assist with coordination of the Grow Springfield network and administrative committee through meeting coordination and communicating with members
Communicate with Grow Springfield members to organize public events including a community gardening and urban agriculture workshop
Conduct research about urban agriculture efforts across the country and share information with the Grow Springfield network
Assist with the development of media marketing materials
Work with the Administrative Committee in the development of a work plan and implementation of the plan
QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in community gardening, urban agriculture and local food systems
Knowledge of Springfield community and ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders
Computer skills, ability to work self-directed and strong organizational skills required
Experience with gardening, community development, event organizing or marketing preferred
