    Local Funding and Grants*

    ​

     

    • The Grantsmanship Center has compiled a list of the Top Grantmaking Foundations, Community Foundations and Corporate giving programs in Illinois.  A link to the Illinois State Homepage can be found here as well.   Funding Sources in Illinois

     

    • The American Community Gardening Association has made current national funding opportunities available on thier website.  ACGA

     

    • University of Illinois Extension staff member, Deborah Cavanaugh-Grant, has put together a resources and information page for local food systems and small farms.   Grants and Loans​

     

    • Created in partnership with FoodCorps, the School Garden Grant program provides a $2,000 monetary grant to a K-12 school, or a nonprofit working in partnership with a K-12 school, to support a new or existing edible garden on school grounds.  Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant Application

     

    • Captain Planet Foundation will accept small grant requests for amounts between $500 – $2,500.  Preferential consideration is given to requests who have secured at least 50% matching or in-kind funding for their projects. The Captain Planet Foundation primarily makes grants to U.S.-based schools and organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $3 million.  International requests are also accepted, with preference given to international projects who have U.S.-based partners.  Captain Planet Foundation

     

    • ​The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program gives small monetary grants to schools, nature centers, and other non-profit and not-for-profit places of learning in the United States with a site available for a stewardship project. Successful non-school applicants often are a partnership between a youth group (scouts, 4-H, etc.) and a site owner. Libraries, goverment agencies and houses of worship are eligible subject to youth participation.  Wild Ones: Seeds for Education Grant Program
